Fall 2025 Irish Language Classes at the Irish Gaelic Circle

The Irish Gaelic Circle has been teaching Irish for over 20 years now and will offer three classes for an 8-week term.  All classes meet weekly.  Classes are online or in-person as noted Students will learn how to read, write, and speak Irish in a friendly enjoyable atmosphere.  Irish culture, traditions, songs, and history as pertains to the language will also be presented. Our students who decide to take the Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) exams have consistently done well on those exams.

New students at all levels are welcome to attend.

 Beginners Class: Will start the week of October 13th.  This class is a continuation for first time learners.  Students will be learning the elements of Irish grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.  The actual date and time will be determined when students indicate their suitable times.  Online.  8-week term.  Cost: $180 plus books. 

Advanced Beginners Class (In-Person): Starts on Monday, October 13th at 7:30 PM. Suitable for students who have some Irish study. Additional study of grammar, reading and some conversation.  The class will meet in the Parish Hall of St. Peter Church, Main St, Danbury, CT. Online for an 8-week term.   Cost: $180 plus books. 

Intermediate Class: Starts on Tues, Jan. 7th at 7:30 PM. Suitable for students who have been learning Irish for a few years and includes conversation and reading stories about history and current events as well. Online for an 8-week term.  Cost: $180. 

Times are ET. Classes run for an hour and 15 minutes approximately. No software needed for online (Zoom). Works on all devices.   

Private classes can also be arranged.

New classes can be arranged as the need arises as well.

John Feeney is the teacher who has been holding classes as the Irish Gaelic Circle for over 20 years.  He has taught Irish at Housatonic Community College and Fairfield University in CT for several years as well as various events with Daltaí na Gaeilge.

Summer 2025 Conversational Irish Class with the Irish Gaelic Circle

The Irish Gaelic Circle has been teaching Irish for over 20 years now and will offer a Conversational Irish class for those who have attended intermediate level classes and wish to improve their fluency in Irish. Classes will meet weekly on Fridays at 9 AM for about an hour and 15 minutes on Zoom.  Class will start on June 6th for an 8-week term.  Cost: $185.

John Feeney is the teacher who has been holding classes as the Irish Gaelic Circle for over 20 years.  He has taught Irish at Housatonic Community College, Fairfield University in CT and Daltai na Gaeilge for several years.

Spring 2025 Intermediate Level Irish Language Class


 

Our Intermediate level class begins a new term on Tuesday, April 1st.

Suitable for students who have been learning Irish for a few years and includes conversation and reading articles and stories about history and current events.  

Online for a 10-week term.  Cost: $185.

An International Festival of Culture

 

We are delighted to be taking part in the inaugural New Fairfield Public Schools "Festival of Cultures" taking place on Saturday, February 1st (snow date is Sunday, 2/2) at New Fairfield High School, 54 Gillotti Road in New Fairfield, CT. In addition to having a table there to meet people and explain what we are all about, we will be sharing Irish culture through an Irish language presentation by our own language officer John Feeney and The Irish Gaelic Circle at 10:25 am, and our Andy McGann musicians will be doing a presentation of trad Irish music at 1:15 pm.
