Spring 2025 Intermediate Level Irish Language Class


 

Our Intermediate level class begins a new term on Tuesday, April 1st.

Suitable for students who have been learning Irish for a few years and includes conversation and reading articles and stories about history and current events.  

Online for a 10-week term.  Cost: $185.

Fall 2023 Irish Language Classes at the Irish Gaelic Circle-4 Levels

 


The Irish Gaelic Circle has been teaching Irish for over 20 years now and will offer four classes for a 10-week term (depending upon the class as noted) during the Fall.  All classes meet weekly.  Classes are online.  Students will learn how to read, write, and speak Irish in a friendly enjoyable atmosphere.  Irish culture, traditions and history as pertains to the language will also be presented. Our students do well on the Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) exams.

New students at all levels are welcome to attend.

 Beginners Class: Starts on Sat, Sept. 16th.  This class is for first year learners who have no or a very limited knowledge of Irish. Students are learning the elements of Irish grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.  Online.  10-week term.  Cost: $165 plus books.  

Advanced Beginners Class: Started on Mon., Sept. 11th at 6:30 PM. This class is for second year learners who have some knowledge of Irish. Students are learning the elements of Irish grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.  The class is team-taught along with the Shenandoah Gaeltacht.  Online.  10-week term.  Cost: $165 plus books. 

Intermediate Class: Starts on Sat., Sept. 16th at 8:45 AM. Suitable for students who have studied Irish for at least a year.  Includes conversation and reading articles on current events in Irish, and Irish mythology and history.  Online.  10-week term.  Cost: $165 plus books. 

Intermediate Class: Starts on Tues, Sept 19th at 7:45 PM. Suitable for students who have been learning Irish for several years and includes conversation as Gaeilge as well. 10-week term.  Cost: $165. 

Times are ET. Classes run for an hour and 15 minutes approximately. 

No software needed for online (Zoom). Works on all devices.

Online Spring 2021 Irish Language Classes at the Irish Gaelic Circle

 


The Irish Gaelic Circle has been teaching Irish for over 20 years now and will offer three classes for an 8–10 week term during the Spring.  All Classes are online in a video teleconference style so that all students can see and talk with each other.  

Students will learn how to read, write, and speak Irish in a friendly enjoyable atmosphere with other students who are also excited about their heritage.  Irish culture, traditions and history as pertains to the language will also be presented.  

Continuing Beginners Class: Starts on Sat., April 10th at 10:45 AM. This class is for learners who have a limited knowledge of Irish.  8 Week term. Online. 

Second Year Beginners Class: Starts on Sat., April 10th at 8:30 AM. Suitable for students who have studied Irish for at least a year.  Includes conversation.  8 Week term.  Online. 

Intermediate Class: Starts on Tues., April 6th at 7:30 PM. Suitable for students who have been learning Irish for several years and includes conversation as Gaeilge as well. 10 Week term.  Online. 

Times are ET. Classes run for an hour and 15 minutes approximately.

Cost for terms are $120 / 8 week and $150 / 10 week plus any books as needed.

Introduction to Irish Language I - Fall 2020 -Online at Fairfield University



The heart and soul of any people is in their language, which is key to understanding their history and way of thinking.

This fall, Fairfield University is offering “Introduction to Irish Language I” a 12-week course open to both undergraduate students for three credit hours* within the Irish Studies minor (director approval needed), and to lifelong learners as a certificate.  The course is online. 

Students will learn the basics of Irish language pronunciation, syntax, and grammar as it applies to everyday conversation, as well as insight into Irish history and culture.
